Four-bedroom duplex apartment
Often young families have to live in rather modest apartments bought on credit or inherited from the same “rich” relatives. Are you enviously looking at the stylish apartments of celebrities in a fashion magazine? In vain! It is best to spend time analyzing your own home, identifying its significant pros and cons. Remember that now your main goal is the visual expansion of the space and its new style. First of all, collect all the things in the center of the apartment, including unnecessary trinkets and old jeans that you almost never use. Believe me, there will be at least 20-30% of such things.
Then try to “tamp” them as tightly as possible into some cardboard box or a huge package and shove them out of sight. A balcony, a storage room on the landing or a closet at your grandmother’s is your salvation. But the “materialism” is over, and what to do next? Many of you have probably heard that light wallpaper visually enlarges the room, and probably these wallpapers are already present on your walls. Did you know that wooden “stable” doors are just as well able to significantly reduce the size of an apartment? Of course, the best option would not be to completely get rid of the doors, but to replace them with thin light shutters or screen doors. So, for example, the Japanese do. A big plus of such barriers is that they no longer put pressure on the atmosphere of freedom in the “burrow”, but simply zone the space in accordance with your lifestyle.
The same applies to window curtains. Forget about massive lambrequins and ruffles forever. In addition to the fact that these interior details are truly wonderful “dust collectors”, they further compress the size of the room. Most of the newfangled designers currently adhere to the idea that in a modest mink all the details should also be modest. This rule, of course, does not force you to buy cheap things at all, but advises you to pay attention to the form of purchase – the simpler and more accurate it is, the better. A real salvation for the owners of a modest living space can be glass or transparent plastic. For example, sunlight penetrating through glass photo frames or through the surface of a glass table can create a real illusion of movement. And, finally, a soft corner, which can be successfully replaced with stylish colored seat cushions.
