Types of blinds. How to choose the right one?

Blinds have long ceased to be exclusively an office version of curtains. Thanks to the variety of shapes and materials of manufacture, you can choose blinds for any room, including an apartment or a country house.

Now there are many different types of blinds on the market and we will consider them in more detail below.

1. Vertical blinds.

Vertical blinds have excellent protection from the sun and, thanks to the variety of manufacturing materials, will fit into any interior – from a standard office to an exclusive apartment design. Moreover, they can be used not only as curtains, but also used for zoning the room. For offices, plastic blinds are usually chosen, which are adjusted to the working mood. But it is better to choose fabric ones for the house – they will create additional comfort.

The width of the lamellae (plates connected in series) is usually 90 mm or 130 mm.

2. Horizontal blinds.

There are several types of horizontal blinds, not taking into account design refinements and material of manufacture. The division is based on the purpose, size, design features.

Standard blinds have a lamella size of 25 mm and are made of aluminum. They are usually painted white, but when made to order, it is possible to paint in a different color. The maximum size of the entire canvas is 2×2 meters. These blinds are very practical, easy to install and have a low cost.

Reduced blinds – used for openings of small size. They have a lamella size of 16 mm, and the method of fastening and construction is similar to standard blinds.

Double blinds have a lamella size of 50 mm, are used for openings of large sizes. Due to their size, they have a larger mass than standard ones, so it is necessary to use stronger cornices and fasteners. They can reach a size of 2×3 meters.

Interframe blinds are installed on office windows with standard double–glazed windows (the distance between the glasses is from 2.5 centimeters). Such blinds are practically not subject to contamination, so it is possible to manufacture from almost any material.

3. Roller blinds.

Roller blinds will look great both in the office and in the apartment. Given the variety of fabrics on the market, it is possible to choose blinds for any interior. Even in the office, roll-up curtains may be needed, for example, when you need to darken the room when the projector is working. Roller blinds are beautiful and easy to operate.

4. Pleated curtains.

Pleated curtains look very similar to horizontal blinds. They got their name because of the pleated fabric at the base of the design. When assembled, they have a very compact appearance and are almost invisible on the window. Even though the fabric is very light and airy, it is able to provide good protection from the sun.

5. Photo blinds.

Photo blinds are a kind of kind of vertical blinds. The main difference is that when the photo blinds are closed, you can see the picture applied to them. Moreover, anything can be depicted, both on one side and on two.

6. Japanese curtains (panel blinds).

Japanese curtains are a kind of screen with a canvas width of half a meter. They can be used not only in oriental cafes, but also, for example, in offices for the separation of premises. Japanese curtains are minimalism, convenience and originality in one bottle.

7. Attic blinds.

Attic blinds are used for installation on windows at any angle. They will not sag and will hold firmly in place.

8. Blinds for arches.

There are special blinds for arches and bay windows on the market, designed for frames of the most non-standard sizes and shapes.

9. Roller shutters (protective blinds).

Roller shutters are used to protect windows, doors, garages from the outside. They are usually made of metal.

And a little bit about the materials for the manufacture of blinds. The most popular are fabric ones. With their help, you can create the necessary indoor environment – from a business office to a relaxing home.

The next popular material for blinds is plastic. It is very practical, easy to care for, has a rich choice of colors, has a lower cost.

Thread blinds are a kind of vertical blinds, where lamellas are fringe threads. They are mostly used for decoration, because they are able to add originality to the interior.

When striving for environmental friendliness and naturalness, you should choose wooden or bamboo blinds. They are more practical and much more durable than others.
